It contains a high amount of carotenoids (124,2mg/100g) and a decent sugar rate (7,4°Bx). Sea buckthorn berries contain higher vitamin E content than wheat and soya, 30 times more vitamin C than oranges and 5 times more than Kiwis. It also contains 3 times more vitamin A than carrots, and high amounts of omega 7 and omega 3. Hippophae rhamnoides 'Leikora' is a very late bloomer. It's a great addition to your hippophae orchard, to increase the harvest period. Female plants require a male species nearby to produce fruit. Typical orchards have 1 male for every 7 female plants. Pollmix male Sea Buckthorn (mid-season) is traditionally used to pollinate 'Leikora'. This cultivar is a German hybrid. A high yield variety it is an upright, rather thorny, vigorous bush. It is tolerant to poor and salty soil conditions. Orange berries and attractive greyish green foliage make this edible plant a beautiful landscape addition in the fall and winter months.
